Planning a visit? Some general information to make it an easier and more enjoyable experience.
The ticket provides an all-day pass with access to 18 rooms in the Castle, as well as access to the Gardens and Museum. Falconry Displays are held in the Gardens. We also have a Tearoom and Gift Shop.
Falconry Displays take place at 11.30am and 2.30pm every day from the 1st of April until 31st of October.
We only provide an inclusive ticket, we do not offer a Gardens only ticket.
Please note that Dunrobin Castle is a historic building. As a consequence, there are a number of areas where access is not possible for visitors using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss any accessibility issues further before your visit. Wheelchair access to the Gardens can be arranged upon request. Please note we do not have wheelchairs available for use.
Pushchairs can be used around the castle grounds but must be checked in at our cloakroom when visiting the Castle. Front carriers are ideal for visiting the Castle, but we do not allow back carriers.
Baby changing facilities are available.
Any bags, backpacks, camera bags, or back carriers larger than A4 dimensions (210mm x 297mm) are not permitted within the Castle rooms. Pushchairs are also not permitted during the upstairs tour.
We do have a cloakroom with limited space to store bags during the tour of the castle. There is no limit on the size or weight of luggage brought into the Castle cloakroom. However, please bear in mind there is a flight of stairs to negotiate once you arrive at the entrance to the castle. There is no charge for using the cloakroom. Please collect all luggage before the Last Entry time.
No, we do not provide guided tours of the Castle. The Castle tour is self-guided with information boards in various languages throughout. Members of staff are also available to answer any questions.
Dunrobin does not offer any private tours during the season or during close.
Yes, photos can be taken throughout the Castle without flash.
Dogs are not permitted in the Castle or Formal Gardens, except for assistance dogs.
Dunrobin Castle no longer has any archives. These are held at the National Records Office in Edinburgh.
Whilst Dunrobin Castle itself does not provide accommodation, we do offer various luxury self-catering holiday cottages at http://www.dunrobincottages.co.uk/.
Dunrobin is not available for any private functions.
From the 1st of November to the 31st of March, the Castle and gardens are closed.

We are a member of Historic Houses, offering free access to the Castle and gardens with proof of membership.
We are a member of RHS Gardens, providing free access to the gardens only with proof of membership. Members of RHS who wish to enter the Castle along with the gardens must purchase a standard ticket.
We are only part of the Historic Houses Association member access scheme and RHS garden access scheme.
We are a privately owned historic venue; therefore, we are not part of Historic Environment Scotland and do not accept the Explorer Pass.
Dunrobin Castle is a privately owned historic venue; therefore, we are not part of National Trust.
We do not offer any discounts other than discounted entry for families, seniors, students, children, and carers. Children under six are free.
We offer discounted entry prices for groups of 10 or more. If you are booking tickets online for groups, please email info@dunrobincastle.net to receive the unique link for the discounted rates.
Yes – all national and international school, college and university students at any age are entitled to the student discount given proof of student status. We accept any form of student ID other than Young Scot National Entitlement (NEC).
Last Entry inside the Castle during April and October is 4.00pm. Last Entry during May-September is 4.30pm. Please collect any left luggage at the cloakroom before Last Entry.
The use of drones is not permitted in the gardens or grounds due to our birds of prey.
Access to the Tearoom is available for ticket holders of the Castle only.
The Tearoom does not require a reservation, however, please note availability for seating is subject to demand.
When visiting the Castle Museum please be aware that it contains a large collection of animal taxidermy dating from the early 1900’s. Some visitors may find these offensive.
